Named after the eponymous heroine of Bellini's Opera Norma, the Norma suite is decorated in a playful nautical manner with deep reds offset against the bright white of the walls and floor tiles.

The model sailing vessels of yesteryear evoke the rich maritime history of the region dating back to the time of Homer and his infamous sirens whose legendary home of Li Galle can be seen through the large windows overlooking the garden terrace just outside.

Opera Norma

An opera in two acts by Vincenzo Bellini with libretto by Felice Romani. It was first produced at La Scala in Milan on 26 December 1831.

Set in ancient Gaul during the Roman occupation, the opera is regarded as a leading example of the bel canto genre and a major soprano aria, Casta diva, in the first act is one of the most famous of the nineteenth century.

Maria Callas redefined the role giving 89 stage performances during her career in the title role of the High Priestess.
