The Amalfi Coast is well known for its culinary delights with several first class restaurants gracing the Michelin Guide. But it is the hidden local gems that usually offer the best surprises and below are some of our favourites so far.

La Sponda

La Sponda restaurant (* guide Michelin) is lit, at dinner, by hundreds of candles that create an unforgettably romantic atmosphere. The cuisine is based on local, fresh ingredients and is inspired by the Mediterranean tradition. A wonderfully refined experience.

The Michelin starred restaurant of Il San Pietro is surrounded by a bright, Mediterranean atmosphere, with an astonishing view over Praiano and of the Amalfi coast. An elegant restaurant, so dress well.

La Brezza Net Art Cafè

A privileged terrace on the beautiful Spiaggia Grande, perfect for chilling out and afternoon cocktails. A favourite amoungst local Positanese.

Rada Restaurant

Elegant but trendy atmosphere, great place to go for after dinner drinks to enjoy a breathtaking view of Positano from the beach of Marina Grande, the main beach in Positano. Walk down to Music on the Rocks after midnight if you want to Party.

La Tagliata

La Tagliata is a fun family style experience specializing in local meats and home grown vegetables. The low key country experience is set high above Montepertuso and below Nocelle. The view of Amalfi Coast is spectacular and the family run service is always friendly. Live music most nights. Suggest stopping by after a hike to Nocelle for lunch to enjoy the view by daylight. Super tasty.

Chez Black

A great place to see and be seen, always packed with people, with a great buzz, amazing seafood bible of a menu, specializing in sea urchin pasta. The Russo family runs the landmark restaurant with passion and high quality service. Ask for a front table for people watching. Amazing pizza.

A hidden gem in the center of Positano, located off Mulini Square. Romantic quiet atmosphere, excellent food and high quality service.

Donna Rosa

A fine dining experience, comes highly recommended for something unique in Montepertuso, high in the mountains above Positano. Top service, amazing attention to every detail. A must try. Amazing food. One of the best in Italy.

Legendary shabby chic beach shack institution of Laurito Bay. Incredibly fun, amazing fresh food, low key, can be noisy in a good way, often with spontaneous opera singing and a super charming vibe - waiters have been know to show up in super hero costumes and pink wigs. Lunch only. Can get crazy. Beach access only so book a boat to get there and back. An adventure and a local favourite spot. Hard to get a table so book early.
